PROPOSAL FOR NEW POLICE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES HEADQUARTERS For several years there have been discussions and proposals to update the existing facility and the Town Board is holding a special Public Meeting this Thursday July 28th at 7pm to obtain community feedback on a proposal to replace the existing HQ to a new site behind the Driving Range on Dobbs Ferry Road in Unincorporated Greenburgh. You can read all about the proposal and the details from the town here. Originally, The Town Board had intended to vote on the proposal tomorrow night and potentially sign the contract to purchase the property contingent upon voter approval in a special election to be held on November 8th. But the vote has been postponed so The Town Board can obtain a formal legal opinion to determine the legal, correct and most equitable course of action to ensure that there is no question related to how the costs for this project will be divided between the Villages and Unincorporated Town. You can attend the Public Meeting in person or view remotely. If you wish to attend and speak remotely you will join via Zoom. To register, email publichearing@greenburghny.com to request a Zoom link, mentioning which hearing you want to join remotely. You will receive a Zoom link on the meeting date by 7pm. |

OTHER NEWS Marion Woods Marion Woods is a nonprofit, tax exempt Retirement Home for Catholic Nuns that resides within the Hart’s Brook Park Preserve. The Marion Woods property (approx.11 acres) includes a historic 100 year old Mansion that was previously a private residence and then utilized as an office building by the nuns. The nuns are not currently using the building and are seeking to subdivide the mansion with approximately one acre of surrounding property from the Marion Woods facility. Their intention is to sell it and have the new owners repair the mansion and return it to a private residence and the tax rolls. The mansion does not currently have preservation status so under the current proposal there is no guarantee the mansion would be kept and repaired. The matter is currently before the Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA). The next ZBA meeting is August 11th. Scarsdale Golf Club Tennis Bubble and Netting Scarsdale Golf Club has requested a variance to the TOG zoning code to install a seasonal temporary enclosure over two tennis courts to allow for year-round usage. The proposed enclosure is directly adjacent to the Hartsdale Parking Garage, would have some visibility from the street and if approved would require some regrading, retaining walls and stabilization to adjacent court areas. Enhancements to stormwater management and emergency access to the tennis area have also been proposed as part of overall request. In addition, the Club is also requesting to install new netting (with 75ft to 90ft poles) along part of its existing driving range to reduce damage and danger from stray golf balls in an adjacent apartment parking lot. The proposed location of the netting would requirement removal of several trees. Both proposals are before the ZBA. The next meeting of the ZBA is scheduled for August 11th. |
