The Future is In Our Schools
School District Elections – This month, we go to the polls via absentee ballot upon direction from Governor Cuomo to avoid the spread of Covid-19. The school district sent all registered voters an absentee ballot in the mail with a postage paid return envelope. If you are a registered voter, you should have received your ballot in the last few days. The ballot needs to be completed and mailed so it is received by the District Clerk no later than 5PM on June 9th. We advise you to send it in as soon as possible to allow sufficient time for delivery. If you are a registered voter and haven’t received your ballot by June 3rd, we recommend you contact the District Clerk at Ikraus@greenburghhcsd.org.
GCSD 2020-21 Budget Proposal and Proposition 1 – The Greenburgh Central School District budget process was unique this year due to the unprecedented health crisis. During this time, efforts were made to balance the social, emotional and academic needs of students with the economic hardships of the community. The proposed budget for the 2020-21 school year reflects a 1.46% tax levy increase and a .33% tax decrease with a reduction in administrative costs by 8.5%. The budget includes not only the costs for our public school students but also covers transportation, textbooks and other services for private school students who live in our school district.
Proposition 1 – In addition to the Budget Proposal, the BOE is asking voters to authorize the BOE to put any remaining excess funds from the 19-20 school year into the repair reserve fund. We at HNA feel this is sound fiscal planning to pay for much needed improvements and repairs to our buildings and infrastructure. Details of the budget can be found on the district website.
