Hello Hartsdale Community,

We hope this email finds you well. We are sending out this newsletter with some updates on local issues and a call for volunteers. We know it’s been awhile since we reached out, and we are hoping to connect more often in the future.

HNA NEWS

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

HNA is the only civic association for all Hartsdale residents. We need your participation to give Hartsdale residents a powerful voice in our community.

Hartsdale Neighbors Association (HNA) is a group of volunteers driven to improve our community. We foster neighborhood engagement and community-based problem solving, enhance civic awareness and provide a vehicle for interaction on community-based efforts.

Join us to express your opinions and priorities to local elected and appointed leaders:
– Greenburgh Town Board
– Greenburgh Police Department
– Hartsdale Parking District
– Hartsdale Fire Department
– Greenburgh Central School District

HNA focuses its efforts on important issues impacting all of Hartsdale. In the past we have focused on:

– Planning and zoning that will impact Hartsdale Four Corners
– Shaping and organizing community cultural events and beautification
– Gaining attention and response to public safety issues
– Gaining attention to potential impact of Edgemont Incorporation to Hartsdale

We need both new and longtime residents to join us and become community leaders. Contact us at info@hartsdaleneighbors.org to find out more and join HNA.

HNA CHANGE IN LEADERSHIP

We have had changes to our Executive Leadership team at HNA over the last few months including the departure of Eric Zinger, who served as our president for the last several years and recently moved out of Hartsdale with his family. We’d like to thank Eric and those who have moved over to other civic responsibilities for all their time and efforts.

OTHER NEWS

HARTSDALE FIRE DISTRICT

The Hartsdale Fire District (HFD) will present the 2025 Budget Tuesday, October 15th at 8:00 PM at Hartsdale Fire District Headquarters, 300 West Hartsdale Ave, Hartsdale, NY in a public hearing. The 2025 total appropriation of $15,816,179 represents a 2% YOY increase of $315,567. The 2025 total to be raised by real property taxes is $14,497,537 The summary 2024 Budget can be found on the HFD Website. The Budget was approved by the Fire District Commissioners at the September meeting. In 2023, the Fire Protection Tax represented approximately 6% of your total property tax bill in the Town of Greenburgh.

EDGEMONT INCORPORATION UPDATE
The Edgemont Incorporation Committee (EIC) submitted their third petition to Incorporate with The Town of Greenburgh (TOG) but were denied by Supervisor Paul Feiner last month due to issues with the filing process of the documents and borders of the proposed village. Members of the EIC have indicated that they will continue the fight and have until the end of the month to respond. You can find out more information on the filing on TOG website.

The HNA Executive Leadership Committee strongly opposes any decision or vote that takes place without consideration of the impact to the entire Unincorporated Area of Greenburgh. We believe Edgemont Incorporation will lead to higher taxes and reduced services for Edgemont and Greenburgh as a whole with the greatest impact felt in Hartsdale and Fairview. You can find more about the history of incorporation on our HNA website.

HALLOWEEN AND FALL CELEBRATIONS
Join our community in the many fall and winter family fun activities including Spooktoberfest and annual Halloween Window Painting on E Hartsdale Avenue. Most events require advance registration.  A full list of activities and sign up information can be found on TOG website

HYDRANT TESTING
The Hartsdale Fire District and the Greenburgh Water Department will conduct Hydrant Tests in the coming weeks. The goal of our testing is to make sure hydrants are functioning properly. Your water could be temporarily brown while they are in your area. You can check the HFD website for updates.
